If you do not feel like leaving your room, there is always the extensive Norwegian Escape menu for room service. You will need to pay a cover charge for room service ($7.95, plus gratuity). Below is all of the food and alcoholic beverages (priced a la carte) from the in cabin room service menu. In a refined and elegant setting, diners will be treated to dishes created from the freshest fish, the finest ingredients, and perfectly paired wine selections and cocktails. Manhattan Dining RoomOne of three Main Dining Rooms, The Manhattan Room is where guests can enjoy specially curated modern and classic dishes made with the freshest ingredients.

The most formal locations offered in complementary dining are Taste, Savor, and the Manhattan Room. They offer a nicely served meal at breakfast, lunch, or dinner but have specific dining times. The Manhattan Room has a similar menu but is only open for dinner. The do offer live music during dinner so its a nice place to enjoy a meal as well. We have all had mixed experiences when it comes to Italian dining on a cruise ship.

La Cucina would definitely be at the top of our list for specialty dining during future sailings on Norwegian Cruise Line. From the starters, to the pastas and entrees, and right down to the desserts, they are all worthy of sampling. Service was also top notch, having both a waiter and assistant waiter (which seemed to be lacking at other specialty dining venues) certainly made the dining experience more seamless and enjoyable.

Food Republic offers cruisers the chance to splurge on international gourmet dishes. The emphasis is clearly on Asian cuisine, and portions are tapas-size, making the plates great for sharing. Diners order and pay via iPads, and the food comes out quickly; you can even belly up to the food bar to watch the chefs prepare your order. While there is plenty of seating spread out inside, those looking for a more intimate setting can enjoy the outdoor seating. In the morning, a wide range of breakfast options is available, though they don't vary much from day to day. Lunch options, on the other hand, change each day, though the most popular (the salad and pasta bar, for example) are available every day.

Comparing the cost of our dinners to the cost of the Specialty Dining package, we came out way ahead. Adding up the four courses the Princess ordered, it would have cost a total of $34.17 (with 18% gratuity) and mine would have cost $43.61. So, on this cruise we ate, and then ate some more, trying to get to as many venues as possible in the interests of travel journalism. Narrowing down our favorite dining experiences was tough, but in the end, we were able to come up with this list of 7 favorite meals on Norwegian Escape.

Set to become NCL’s 20th ship in its fleet, construction continues at the Fincantieri shipyards in Italy, and it marks the first of four planned ships in the Prima Plus class through 2028. “Guests can expect a playful dining experience surrounded by bold colors of lime green and black,” the line stated. Still, the extra room means a shift of some returning venues found on Prima and Viva and the introduction of three new offerings. Norwegian Aqua is the first of what the line is calling its Prima Plus class, 10% larger than 2021’s Prima and 2023’s Viva.

Throughout the course of the night, it appeared that other patrons of the restaurant were as unimpressed as we were. I guess we were just expecting more of a fine dining experience from Le Bistro on Norwegian Escape. Having already tested two seafood dishes, I wanted to try something different for my entree. La Cucina on Norwegian Escape has a variety of great classic Italian dishes from which to choose, so it was difficult to decide. This tender, fall off the bone veal shank was just as good, or better, than similar servings of this dish that I have had in fancy Italian restaurants back home. The veal was served on a bed of risotto that soaked up the natural juices.

Norwegian Cruise Line Kicks Off 2024 European Season

While Escape preaches a "freestyle" cruise experience, reservations are highly recommended and help reduce wait times, though expect lines to be part of the Norwegian Escape experience no matter what. With so much going on, the ship can -- and does -- get loud. Crowds, too, are noticeable, especially at peak periods around dinner and at show times, when everyone is clamoring for the same things at the same time. Throughout our meal, both our waitress and assistant waiter checked in on us regularly, refilling water, asking us about our meals, and clearing plates in a timely manner. They were by far the best restaurant servers we had all cruise. Not really the “freestyle” type of cruisers, we pre-booked all of our dinner reservations prior to our cruise.

When you want a unique culinary experience, our specialty restaurants offer a variety of tastes for every palate. Now through The Norwegian Edge we are bringing an even higher standard of excellence to our dining with upgraded menus and new exciting venues. With an average of 10 hours in port, guests can explore at their leisure or choose from a wide range of shore excursions designed to provide guests with an in-depth experience of each destination.

Start your meal with an array of impressive appetizers, including a salad bar of imported cheeses, olives, cured meats, ceviche, and more. The coconut flan, papaya crème, and mango rice pudding do not disappoint. Reservations are recommended for Moderno, and diners pay extra to eat here, as it's one of Norwegian's specialty restaurants. You usually don’t think of the buffet as having some of the best food on a cruise ship, but don’t let the breakfast at the Ocean Café fool you. The made to order omelet stations offer one of the freshest breakfast options on Norwegian Escape.

Each day, the ship will moor at a new port allowing guests to explore bucket-list destinations like Istanbul, Turkey; Iraklion, Santorini and Mykonos, Greece as well as hidden gem Izmir (Ephesus), Turkey. Select departures include overnight stays in Istanbul giving guests more than 24 hours to visit Hagia Sophia, Topkapı Palace and the Grand Bazaar. Indulge Food Hall will get a design makeover by New York’s Rockwell Group going for deep wood accents and gold and metal furnishings.

Kids can order off the children’s menu or adult’s menu at the complementary locations. At the specialty restaurants they can order off the children’s menu for free if they are 12 and under or pay the a la carte pricing. The children’s menu is the same at every location though. A creation of the Pubbelly Boys from the Miami food scene, this fusion restaurant offers some of the best food on the ship. Of the 8 tapas we sampled at the restaurant (yes we are pigs), many of them were unbeatable. Both skewers were delectable, so luckily we did not have to choose just one.

Of the 11 items we sampled at the restaurant (yes, we are gluttons), many were superb. The teriyaki chicken skewers came lightly breaded and pan fried, glazed with a sweet-and-sour ginger sauce worthy of serving as a condiment to the other meals. We followed the waiter's recommendation and also ordered the beef anticuchos, one of the venue's most popular dishes; it was a great mashup of Latin flavors spread on medium-seared beef skewers. If you're all about all-you-can-eat buffets, the Garden Café is the place for you. As one of Norwegian's complimentary restaurants, you never need to pay extra or make reservations to enjoy dining here. The Garden Café opens for breakfast at the crack of dawn and also offers lunch, dinner, and late-night dining.

Moreover, with NCL's Freestyle Cruising philosophy, guests have the freedom to tailor their vacation experience to their preferences, with no fixed schedules or dinner times. NCL’s freedom of choice and value proposition invites guests to explore the world while enjoying the convenience of unpacking just once and waking up in a new and exciting destination almost every day. Norwegian's complimentary restaurants include up to three main dining rooms, a buffet, and a host of casual eateries.
